Aurora Curtain

  • 1 fan
  • 1 shiny curtain
  • 1 video camera
  • 1 pico projector

Hang the curtain and point the fan at it to make it wave. Patch the projector into the video output of the camera, and point them both at the same place on the curtain.

This was a little experiment in dynamic feedback, inspired by the San Francisco Exploratorium’s Turbulent Landscapes exhibit. It’s a completely analog effect, though it uses some digital tools. Makes for a nice effect, I think.
